R. Jared Hogue
Jared currently works as the Director of Alternative Education for the Arkansas Department of Education, Division of Elementary and Secondary Education. He has worked for the state department for 8 years, with previous positions as the Administrator for Special Education Dispute Resolution and Special Projects and as the coordinator for accommodations and alternate assessments in the Assessment Unit. He has been a teacher for over ten years, with 6 of those years at Arkansas School for the Deaf. He got his start in education as an educational sign language interpreter before making the move into the classroom. In addition to working in k-12 education (and teaching American Sign Language online for homeschool students), Jared has served as an adjunct instructor in the areas of English composition and oral communication for 10 years at Arkansas State University-Beebe and Arkansas State University-Searcy, and previously at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock: Pulaski Technical College.
He has been an illustrator for 30 years (taking his first paid commission as a junior in high school). He works as a free-lance illustrator and caricature artist, working with children's book authors to bring their words to life (with a focus on Christian children's literature). Jared also uses his skill as a caricaturist to create studio caricatures from pictures as well as working at live events like wedding receptions, birthday parties, corporate events, etc. A collection of his artwork was displayed in the "Second Floor Gallery" at the Historic Arkansas Museum in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas, in 2012. (Click here to see the article in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Three Rivers Edition.) (You can visit his caricature site to see photos from the event.)
Jared has been a Christian since childhood, and answered the Call to ministry in the summer of 2012. He has been a student at Missionary Baptist Seminary, though currently on hold in his classwork. His love for the LORD and His Word leads Jared to in-depth studies into Biblical lessons. He is currently creating a page to house sermons and Sunday School lessons that he has taught.
